Phew, we qualified to the national Compass Sport Trophy Final to be held in the Autumn, but it was close! With a couple of no-shows, three disqualifications (all at the same control!), and one wrong map picked up, we were down in 4th place with the last few runners to finish, and it was only when Christine Patterson downloaded that we finally moved up into a qualifying position with a final score of 1250 points from our 13 scorers (indicated with a star on the list above), behind defending champions INT (1277) but ahead of final qualifier BL (1241) and unlucky RR (1238), who missed out of the Final by a handful of points. Huge congratulations to EVERYONE who turned out to “do their bit” for the club, but special thanks to two people, namely Ian Davidson (96 points on Green Men) and Sally McCartney (80 points on Green Woman) who both performed above expectations and whose points were critical to our qualification.
The Compass Sport Cup and Trophy Final will be held in Cannock Chase on 21st October, so put the date in your diaries NOW and watch out for details of what will be a memorable CLYDE “road trip” to the event later in the year!
