Four CLYDEsiders included in list of the top 100 best orienteers in the UK
The advent of a single UK ranking list for all senior orienteers in the UK has made it possible to ask the question “who are the best pound-for-pound orienteers in the UK?” and, after correcting for age and gender, the latest issue of Britain’s National Orienteering Magazine Compass Sport (Volume 31, Issue 3, June 2010) has published an unofficial list of the 100 best orienteers which includes four members of CLYDE.
The members of CLYDE included on the list of the 100 best orienteers (together with their uncorrected ranking position) are as follows:
27th (474th uncorrected) Christine Patterson 8,171 points
65th (112th uncorrected) Donald Petrie 8,069 points
76th (63rd uncorrected) Dave Robertson 8,055 points
96th (160th uncorrected) Hollie Orr 8,019 points
Clearly Hollie (who makes her World Championships debut in Norway next month) should be ranked higher than she is, but presumably she hasn’t done enough qualifying events over the last year to be accurately ranked. The other positions look just about right, although Robin Orr must have been very close to joining his daughter in the top 100.
