Report from Scottish Champs at Rannoch

A splendid weekend’s orienteering was enjoyed at Rannoch Forest for the 2010 Scottish Championships, with Clyde members making a major contribution to the organisation, in particular Kate Thomas organising the individual event, the Orrs planning the individual courses, Patrick computing, the Macphersons fielding entries and Donald co-ordinating.  Many other club members assisted on the day and also enjoyed the technically challenging courses. Congratulations to Dave Robertson, Robert Patterson and Christine Patterson who all became Scottish Champions.  There were also some entertaining relays on the Sunday!

Relay highlights

- an excellent 2nd place for the Junior team of Emma, Lindsay and Robert
- on the 9 point handicap course, Dave, Kenny and Donald cruelly denied a win over FVO by one control unit not registering
- six other Clyde teams battled it out on the 12 point handicap course (handicap points being based on age categories)
- official results report a faster time per km for Ann Robertson than husband Dave
- Alastair and Steve running so fast in a head-to-head that their next team members were not ready for the handover….
- certain teams finishing as the finish arena was in the process of being dismantled !
