Highlights for 2016
Planning is progressing for the Volunteers’ Weekend at Glenmore Lodge 13-15th May; sums are being done and we will shortly publicise costs, then we’ll open for bookings.
Course Schedule 2016
The full course schedule (always subject to further additions!) is attached. Please publicise, and particularly make sure your school (etc.) contacts know about the local Teaching Orienteering courses.
The Coaching Foundation course gives experienced orienteers the skills and tools to coach beginners and returners of any age. It would also make a useful update or refresher for anyone whose coaching might be a bit rusty or who just wants the opportunity to exchange ideas. These courses are part of the planned offerings to help you make the most of the growth in interest that should result from WOC 2015, but there will be only 2 offerings this year. Note the first of these is on 13th February – BOOK NOW! Venue probably near Perth.
After the Coaching Foundation course, you can do the two-day version of UKCC Level 1, or (in approved cases) go straight to Level 2. sportscotland offer a subsidy for UKCC course fees; you must apply for this no less than 6 weeks before the course start date.
Please also note Grade C Controllers’ course Sat 16th April. Venue Speyside.
Coach CPD (Continuing Personal Development) for 2016 comprises 3 exciting sessions built on parts of the UKCC L3 course:
• Psychology – Kincraig, 23 April
• Coaching the Whole Athlete (includes coach/athlete relationship, lifestyle, nutrition, drugs etc.) – Kinnoull, 25 June
• Physical & Technical – Deeside, 3 September
and an ideas exchange/discussion session in Musselburgh on 24 September.
These are all open to all licensed coaches, particularly recommended for anyone considering or already working towards UKCC L3.
Qualified tutors have been invited to the Tutors’ CPD day.
