Changes to Memorandum and Articles
The proposal to change the SOA’s Memorandum and Articles, as put to the AGM on 2nd June, had not given members the required amount of time for comment. An additional 4 weeks is therefore being allowed for such comment. Details of the proposal are contained in the AGM booklet available at
http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/documents/board/SOA_AGMBooklet_2012.PDF
Please send comments to Colin Matheson by Monday 2nd July 2012.
Regional Coaching Workshops
The next coaching workshop will be held in Inverness on 7th July. Details are being finalised, but the theme will be “Plans”.
Booking form is at http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/soa/page/coach-activity-days
Volunteering Seminar
A seminar entitled “Volunteering: a tool for events in the 21st century?” is being held on
Friday 20 July 2012 at Almada Lecture Theatre 1, Hamilton Campus, University of the West of Scotland. The Event is free but please register your attendance to Dr. Sandro Carnicelli
.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Speakers include Neil Campion (Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games - General Manager of Volunteer Recruitment).
WOC 2015 Development – open meeting
An open meeting will be held in Edinburgh on Saturday 1st September, to discuss development and legacy around WOC2015. Details to follow, but if you’re interested please put the date in your diary.
Event Safety & Welfare workshops
You are reminded that event organisers should attend an Event Safety workshop; this is particularly recommended for Day Organisers for the 6 Day event at Moray in 2013. Please register your requirements with Hilary.
Badges
SOA continues to offer colour-coded badges for clubs to award to their members who have achieved the required standard. In order to cover increased cost of production, the price of these is being increased to £1.50 each plus postage at cost. A minimum of 20 badges must be ordered at any time. The full range of colours is available (White to Brown, though Light Green is temporarily out of stock); there is no “short” option for the various colours.
The “courses completed” (5, 10, 25, 50, 100) badges remain available free of charge to clubs but please avoid causing us to incur postage costs. All these badges can be ordered from Hilary by e-mail.
