Funding for UKCC coach education
As from January 2012 sportScotland’s method of subsidising UKCC Level 1 coach education will be changed, which in turn changes the overall process of applying for a place on a course. In particular you should start the process at least 6 weeks before the course. See http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/natcen/page/funding-for-ukcc-level-1-courses-from-2012/
JK2012 (Friday 6 – Monday 9 April 2012)
Helpers wanted
Clubs have been allocated to specific days of the JK as follows:
Day 1 – Livingston – INT, CLYDE, AYROC, SOLWAY, STAG, TINTO, RR
Day 2 – Dunalastair – FVO, Moravian, INVOC
Day 3 – Craig a Barns – ESOC, BASOC, GRAMP, KFO, ELO
Day 4 – Newtyle – TAY, ECKO, MAROC, EUOC, BAOC
It would be most helpful if volunteers would make themselves known to the relevant day co-ordinator (Ken Daly, David Nicol, Dave/Kirsteen Kershaw, Angela Dixon respectively).
PVG progress
Starting February 2012, SOA members with “old style” disclosures will be migrated to the new PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Scheme. Clubs will be contacted separately.
Child Protection at BOF
British Orienteering recently reconstituted its Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Vulnerable Adults Steering Group. Margaret Dalgleish (ESOC) has volunteered to be Scottish representative on this.
Several SOA members attended BOF’s recent Club and Association conference; notes from it are on the BOF website.
Event Safety Training Course
Wednesday 16th November, 7-10pm, South Edinburgh, Tutors Ian Pyrah & Roger Scrutton. Still a couple of spare places; contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to reserve a place.
