Scottish Orienteering Newsletter October 2011
The October newsletter is making a slightly early appearance, for various reasons. Not least among these is the fact that 1st October is cut off date for a couple of matters which I’d urge you to consider and act upon.
Contents:
Courses etc.
Funding for UKCC coach education
Awards for Coaches
Development Funding
BOF Emergency Response Plan
Coach Update Day #2

The November UKCC L1 course is now FULL.
Funding for UKCC coach education
As from January 2012 sportScotland’s subsidy for UKCC coach education will be reduced and the method of obtaining it will change. More detail will be on the website soon.
Awards for Coaches
Please remember to nominate coaches (and indeed others) for awards BEFORE 1st October. More information at http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/soa/page/recognise-your-sporting-heroes/
Development Funding
1st October is also the cutoff date for applications for SOA Development Funding. Details and form are at http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/soa/page/soa-club-development-fund/
BOF Emergency Response Plan
A link to this plan has been added under “Session plans and other templates” on http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/natcen/page/information-and-resources-for-coaches/
The plan was drawn up particularly with training tours in mind but has a very useful checklist at Appendix 4.
Coach Update Day #2
Coaches are reminded of the second Update Day, 22nd October in Banchory. All active coaches should try to attend if they didn’t get to the Kinnoull one. Details and booking form are at http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/natcen/page/coach-update-days/
