Thanks from Donald Petrie

I’d like to thank you all for your efforts in putting together a fantastic Scottish Champs weekend. At times I wondered if the event would actually happen given the problems with the deep snow and the map, but all credit to the planning and controlling teams we managed it!

Co-ordinating the event was a fairly easy task for me as all of you got on with the various jobs without any fuss at all.

The feedback I got from all competitors was that the event was superb and the added attraction of having the camp site adjacent to the (excellent) assembly area was appreciated. The main questions I was being asked were, why hadn’t the area been used for 10 years, and when was it being used again as it was so good. I think perhaps the only disappointment was that entry was on the low side, especially for the relay. I’m not sure why as Rannoch provides classic Scottish orienteering which is what I think everyone is in the sport for.

If anyone has any expenses could they please forward them to Alastair Dunlop, the event treasurer. Please send in any relevant invoices for goods purchased.

I would also like to hear any comments you may have regarding the event which I can pass on to BOF, SOA or the organisers of the next Scottish Champs. I have a few comments to make regarding the WRE status the event had, more welcome.

A big thank you again. We’ve all done our bit and can enjoy next year’s Scottish Champs!

Donald
