Thanks from Kate Thomas
Well done everyone!!! It all went without a hitch (well, any hitch obvious to the competitors) and the day was a great success.
Can I thank Claire and Andy who had to deal with a thousand mad emails and requests and the fact that there were some pretty substantial last minute changes and delays to getting the start info all organised; Patrick, who I think probably slept even more badly than me in the few days before the event and had to deal with radio controls getting in the way of the main stuff; Robin, Holly and Liz for ” the best course(s) I have ever run” - overheard comments from lots of runner and have given up the last 3 months of their lives to this; the early morning parking team - Kenny, Christine (who was there from Thursday supporting me!), Donald, Amelia and Maddy - who should have been on for an hour tops but ended up doing the majority of the parking for about 3 hours and then Amelia had to go off and do a drinks station; Andy Paterson who cheerfully took his whole family up to the drinks station and was calm about being more or less abandoned there; Jessica who ran her race and then was rushed up to relieve Andy P - not giving her enough time to cool down or eat and so ended up feeling seriously nauseated; Robertsons who put together the best string course ever, with Lindsay’s beautiful fairies; Wilsons who have had to accommodate a thousand mugs for the past few months and ran great prizegivings, helped by Louis, Alice and Lindsay; the start team guys of Val, Mark, Alastair and Julian (who also ferried all the IT stuff up and has had to live with a mad woman for the last few weeks), download teams of Robert, Thomas, Emma, Rachel and Christine.
We had a small team, who ended up taking on lots of jobs on the day and doing all the set up and clear up afterwards. And some of you even won events!!!
Well done one and all.
Best wishes
Kate
