Veteran’s Home Internationals
Three CLYDE members ran for the Scottish team for the Veteran Home International in South West Wales at the beginning of October.
The Veteran Home International is an annual competition between England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Three CLYDE runners were selected for the Scottish team: Christine Patterson (W50), Donald Petrie (M50) and Dave Robertson (M45), with Amelia Petrie as a reserve.
This year the races were held on the complex sand dune terrain of the Gower Peninsula in South West Wales. The results are available here.
In the individual races the Scottish team did well, ending only marginally behind the English, and well ahead of the Welsh and Irish. CLYDE highlights were an unexpected win for Dave in the M45 class (even if I was beaten by an M50) and a second for Donald in M50. The relays the following day didn’t go quite so well and the English, as so often, ended overall winners, with a disappointed Scottish team in second place.
Next year the races will be held in Scotland.
