CLYDE at the British Championships 2019

Donald Petrie

Clashes with the Scottish school examinations and the World Schools Championships meant that there was only a small CLYDE contingent at this year’s British Championships held in Yorkshire on the weekend on 4th to 6th May. The CLYDE highlight was a Bronze medal for Donald Petrie (M60) in the Individual Championships held on a very fast area at Arncliffe and Kilnsey North, while the Relay Championships held at Middleton Park saw the debut of CLYDE’s first ever W60 team. Full results can be found here.

CLYDE Successes at JK 2019

Donald and Amelia Petrie on JK Sprint Podium 2019

A small but dedicated group of CLYDE members made the long trip south to Farnborough and Newbury for the JK International Festival of Orienteering 2019 held over the Easter weekend. The standout performances on a weekend of tough racing in very hot and sunny conditions were by Donald Petrie, who won M60 on all three days and was awarded the trophy for the best performance by a male orienteer over the entire weekend, and Amelia Petrie, who took the silver medal in the W60 Sprint Race held at Aldershot Garrison. There was also success for CLYDE member Emma Wilson who was part of the Edinburgh University team which won the Women’s Trophy on the JK Relays held at Minley. Full results will eventually be here.
