CLYDE Evening Milngavie Urban Race Thursday 24th September

Following the last minute cancellation of the Evening Event at Mugdock a fortnight ago, it was a pleasure to see CLYDE members out in force for a very successful Covid-19-compliant urban race at Milngavie on 24th September. Results are here. Thanks to Emma Wilson for planning courses offering some tricky route choices, Rachel Wilson for organising and filling out all the Covid-19 paperwork, Dave Robertson for printing the maps, and to everyone who turned out on a surprisingly pleasant evening. Watch out for the next Covid-19-compliant CLYDE activity soon.

CLYDE Evening Erskine Urban Race Thursday 27 August

Covid Officer, registration and competitor

We are delighted to announce the success of the first post-lockdown Clyde race. Results are available here.

We obviously had to make some adjustments to comply with the (very sensible) SOA covid rules and guidelines. In particular, the event was only for club members and you had to pre-enter so that we could allocate start times and avoid congestion. Full details below.
We hope you enjoyed the race, despite the sometimes torrential weather.
Thanks to all who have read many guidelines and filled in many forms to make this possible.

Permanent Courses using GPS, Maprun an Orienteering app for your phone

The “MapRun” orienteering app allows you to set up and take part in “Virtual” orienteering courses using the GPS your smartphone. You run a course using either the map on your phone screen or a paper version, and your phone will automatically beep when you reach the correct location of each control (nothing marking it on the ground). At the end of the course your results and split times can be saved into a results table alongside others who have run the course. Clyde have a number of courses available that you can run any time you want to. They are listed on the SOA website along with all the other courses in Scotland. Click “Read more…” below for more details.
