Explanation of Event levels
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships.

Clyde and GOATs/GUOC are running a joint series of 4 Night events starting on 9 February 2023. The first 3 are urban with the final one planned on south Mugdock.

· 23 Mar Mugdock South – Klaas Wynne
Head torch is compulsory.

Directions / Parking
Start and Finish are at the Lord Roberts Monument, by Park Circus in Woodlands. This is a 5-10 minute walk from Kelvinbridge Subway Station or the CG Car Park at 160 Berkeley Street. There may be some on-street parking closer.

Map / Terrain
2022 A3 1:4,000 map of the University of Glasgow campus and Kelvingrove Park drawn according to ISSprOM 2019-2 standards (however, no multilevel structures) by Klaas Wynne October 2022 based on Phase 5 LiDAR for Scotland with elements taken off the Clyde West End map drawn by Simon Gardner.
Mixed terrain – gravel/muddy paths, tarmac, short grass with options to cut across rough ground around the ponds – some vegetation is very high.

· Long course - 4.5km
· Medium course - 3.0km
· Short course - 1.9km
There are 2 optional artificial barriers. These will NOT affect the Short course.
Controls will be reflective tape or tubes, with no punching/SI and non-marshalled.

Watch out for members of the public, dogs and mountain bikers. Competitors are responsible for their own safety.
The Short Course avoids all roads, the University campus, and has
marked mandatory river crossings.
Covid - please do not attend if you have Covid, or Covid symptoms.
Under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Any participants with relevant pre-existing medical conditions which might affect their participation should disclose them to the race organisers before they start.
