Clydeside Orienteers is looking to expand by hiring two development/project officers. Initially, these positions are for 10 days at £140/day each, with the potential for extension based on performance and funding. Our goal is to strengthen our existing presence and offerings.
CLYDE at Scottish Middle Distance Champs 2024
There was a good CLYDE turnout at the Scottish Middle Distance Championships held at Hill of Alyth on 20th April. The highlights were Donald Petrie taking the Men's UltraVet title, Dave Roberson winning a bronze medal in the Men's SuperVet class, and Christine Patterson just missing the podium with 4th place in the Women's UltraVet class.
CLYDE at British Championships 2024
This year's British Championships saw two days tough racing on the steep and muddy slopes of Mulgrave Woods near Whitby. The CLYDE highlight was an excellent silver medal for Donald Petrie on M65L. On the short classes, Dan Graves as 2nd on M21S, Steve Wilson was 2nd on M55S, and Alexandra Lennie was 3rd on W21S. Two mixed CLYDE/GOAT teams ran in the relays.
CLYDE at Pollok parkrun
There was a good CLYDE turnout at Pollok parkrun on Saturday 6th April.
CLYDE at JK 2024
Although our numbers were reduced by illness, there were some strong CLYDE performances at JK 2024 held in the Midlands over the Easter weekend.
CLYDE Successes in the Scottish Orienteering League 2023
The Scottish Orienteering League (SOL) is (alongside the Scottish Championships) the premier annual Scottish orienteering competition, and several CLYDEsiders achieved top overall results in 2023. Huge congratulations to W21E winner Emma Wilson, W65 winner Amelia Petrie, M50L winner Dave Robertson (actually a M55), M55L winner Steve Wilson, and M65L winner Donald Petrie. Well done to the other podium places achieved by Rachel Wilson (3rd W55L) and Alastair Dunlop (3rd M50L), and all the others who took part this year. Full results can be found here. The winner of the CLYDE Cannon Trophy for the most SOL points is once again Donald Petrie with an impressive 3902 points.
CLYDE at Springburn parkrun
CLYDE enjoyed the spring sunshine at Springburn parkrun on 2nd March.
CLYDE at the Scottish Night Championships 2024
There was a good CLYDE turnout at this year's Scottish Night Orienteering Championships held in Dumfries on 24th February, with Alastair Dunlop becoming the Veteran Men Champion, and Dave Robertson (Super Veteran Men) and Donald Petrie (Ultra Veteran Men) both runners up in their categories, plus several other strong results. CLYDE at Erskine Waterfront parkrun
There was an excellent CLYDE turnout at the Erskine Waterfront parkrun on Saturday 10th February.
CLYDE and GOATS at the Devil's Burdens Relay 2024
Two CLYDE/GOATS teams took part in this year's Devil's Burdens Relay on 3rd February, recording a best result of 53rd place in a large field of very strong teams drawn mainly from hill running and running clubs. Well done to all of those who took part!
