Monthly Saturday Afternoon Series for Beginners and Improvers

Posted: Tue 28 Jan 2025

Clydeside Orienteers have a monthly Saturday afternoon series for beginners and improvers, starting on 15 February 2025 at Lennox Park, Milngavie. If you are new to orienteering this is a great place to start - the events are aimed at introducing new people (juniors and adults) to the sport as well as helping people improve. There are courses suitable for everyone, with club coaches and members available to help and explain the basic techniques.

Orienteering is an exciting outdoor adventure sport which involves navigating around a course using a detailed map and a compass. The aim is to navigate between a set of control points and find the best route to complete the course in the quickest time. It does not matter how young, old or fit you are, as you can go at your own pace.

There are 3 courses – which can be done individually or in groups:

When you enter, we'll give you a map, which is yours to keep, with your course pre-marked. If you don't have your own dibber (or SI Card to give it its fancy name) you can hire one through the entry form.

It is best if you enter in advance (so we can print sufficient maps) but we will have Entry on the Day available too. See event page with more details of the first event on 15 February and how to enter.
